Lucknow, September 24 (Reporter’s Desk): Tragic violence struck Lucknow’s Saadatganj area when a 26-year-old Muslim man, Ali Abbas, was brutally beaten to death by his neighbours after allegations of an interfaith relationship with a local woman.
According to police reports, the accused—Himalaya Prajapati, Sonu, and Saurabh Prajapati—lured Abbas to their residence under the pretense of discussing his intentions to marry their sister. The confrontation quickly escalated into violence, with Abbas suffering severe head injuries from sticks and bricks. Despite rapid intervention by local authorities and a rushed transfer to the trauma centre, Abbas succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Officials confirmed that Himalaya and Saurabh Prajapati were apprehended soon after the incident, while Sonu remains at large. In their statements, the arrested individuals confessed to attacking Abbas out of anger toward his relationship with their sister. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and legal proceedings are underway as the city reels in shock from the incident.
The case has ignited community tensions and renewed debate over the safety and acceptance of interfaith relationships in Uttar Pradesh. Senior officers have since inspected the crime scene, and a comprehensive probe is ongoing to ensure justice for the victim and his grieving family.
