Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the historic centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in New Delhi on October 2, 2025, marking exactly 100 years since the organization’s founding on Vijayadashami in 1925. The Prime Minister released a special commemorative postage stamp and coin to honor the RSS’s contribution to nation-building and social service.
In his address, PM Modi praised the countless swayamsevaks who have dedicated their lives to the organization’s vision of “Nation First,” describing the RSS as the embodiment of India’s timeless national consciousness. He emphasized that the Sangh has nourished every part of the nation and every sphere of society through its various affiliated organizations working in education, agriculture, social welfare, tribal welfare, and women’s empowerment.
The Prime Minister highlighted the RSS’s crucial role during India’s Partition, when swayamsevaks stood at the forefront with limited resources to serve displaced refugees, calling it not merely relief work but an act of strengthening the nation’s soul. He noted that the organization has consistently worked in remote and inaccessible regions, especially among India’s tribal communities, prioritizing their culture, festivals, languages, and traditions.
RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale expressed gratitude for the government’s recognition, noting that the organization has endured various forms of opposition over the century but survived due to people’s affection and support. He described the RSS as the world’s largest voluntary organization, with swayamsevaks working selflessly for character development and nation-building without self-interest.
