Mahindra & Mahindra is poised to launch the much-anticipated Thar facelift on October 3, 2025, introducing refreshed styling, enhanced technology, and upgraded comfort features to its iconic off-roader. Early teasers reveal a bolder front grille, full-LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers, and a revised boot-lid spare-wheel cover that accentuate the SUV’s rugged appeal.
Exterior and Styling Updates
The Thar facelift sports a revamped hexagonal grille flanked by LED DRLs and squared-off bumper clusters housing integrated fog lamps. New skid plates, blacked-out alloy wheels, and an optional dual-tone roof enhance its aggressive stance. Tail lamps now feature full-LED modules and a redesigned rear bumper for improved departure angles.
Interior and Infotainment Enhancements
Inside, the Thar receives a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a wireless charging pad and two USB-C ports. The cabin gains dual-tone upholstery, a redesigned center console with ambient lighting, and temperature controls upgraded to automatic climate control.
Powertrain and Mechanical Changes
Under the hood, Mahindra retains the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine (150 PS/320 Nm) and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine (130 PS/300 Nm), now paired with a new 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox alongside the existing 6-speed manual. Suspension tuning has been revised for improved on-road comfort without compromising off-road capability.
Off-Road and Safety Features
The Thar facelift continues with a low-range transfer case, mechanical locking rear differential, and all-terrain tyres. Safety has been boosted with dual front airbags, ESP with rollover mitigation, hill-hold and descent control, and a rear-parking camera with dynamic guidelines.
Pricing and Availability
Mahindra is expected to price the facelift marginally above the outgoing model’s ₹12.5–16 lakh (ex-showroom) range. Bookings will open on October 3, with deliveries commencing by month-end. Dealers anticipate strong demand, particularly among urban adventure-seekers and off-road enthusiasts.
Market Outlook
The refreshed Thar facelift faces competition from Maruti’s upcoming Jimny and Toyota’s revamped 4×4 line-up. However, Mahindra’s entrenched brand loyalty, proven off-road credentials, and significant feature upgrades are likely to sustain its leadership in India’s off-roader segment.
